About the Maryland Chapter
The Maryland Chapter of the ALA was chartered in 1972 and currently has 80 members represented by members from approximately 40 of the top law firms and several of the large corporations in the fields of insurance, banking, investing, and real estate.
Education is the heart of the ALA. The ALA international and local organizations provide members with high-quality education on legal management and technical issues, diverse forums for idea exchanges, and networking. The Association attracts both local and nationally known speakers. In addition to monthly meetings, seminars and roundtables, the ALA Maryland Chapter sponsors several major events each year. The Managing Partners' Dinner, held each November, provides the opportunity for chief counsel of law departments, managing partners of law firms, and their administrators to discuss current issues in the legal industry. The Chapter also hosts a Business Partner Event each year, during which administrators and business partners network and explore ways in which they can improve their working relationships.
The Chapter publishes its own newsletter, Disclosures, five times a year. The newsletter features a special theme each issue, covering trends of administrative issues authored by industry leaders and experts. A Chapter Directory and Vendor Directory are also published annually. These publications further promote professional exchanges. Publications sent to all members by ALA International include Legal Management and ALA News.
